Starting as a fund raiser for the disease Scleroderma after her mother died, Arlington Melissa Johnson and a group of Laneville volunteers spent almost a year collecting the ingredients for the world's largest bar of soap. On 15th March 2003, the bar of soap, complete with scent, was unveiled weighing in at 16,900 lb (7,650 kg) at an organized event called Tons of Suds for Scleroderma.
